The Concrete Association of Wyoming recently kicked off its 27th annual two-day conference in Laramie with Executive Director Tina Silva and Don Shubert of NRMCA Producer member Croell Ready Mix welcoming association members from around the state. Build With Strength Senior Director, Building Innovations, Patrick Matsche presented Concrete Sustainability: The Urgency of Embodied Carbon, encouraging NRMCA member and non-member companies to use Build With Strength’s performance-based specification review, NRMCA’s Carbon Calculator tool and consulting services to create low carbon concrete specifications in lieu of unnecessarily prescriptive language that impact the GWP reduction targets and goals of their clients’ projects. NRMCA’s Build With Strength and Pave Ahead platforms offer design teams a range of education, promotion and execution support. “Sustainability and lowering the carbon footprint of concrete is impacting projects in every corner of the U.S.," Matsche said. "We are seeing projects of every type and scale, looking to reduce their GWP’s along with requiring Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), even in Northern Wyoming."
Participants also had a chance to attend informative industry presentations and were entered to win fabulous gifts. Presenters discussed topics that ranged from concrete testing and best business practices, along with safety and new cement technologies. Representatives from state OSHA and WYDOT also shared their thoughts on 2025 and beyond, Matsche said.
The highlight of the conference was the President’s Dinner & Outstanding Awards ceremony. Winners from across Wyoming shared their exciting stories.
The Build With Strength platform, with the generous support of the ready mixed concrete industry, is recognized as the leader in supporting structural engineers, architects, end users and specifiers in achieving low carbon, high-performance concrete.
