Earlier this month. Build With Strength Director, Building Innovations, Justin McCain partnered with the Concrete Promotional Group of Greater Kansas City to speak with construction management students at Pittsburg State University. The team addressed technical aspects of concrete as well as the opportunities that are available for graduates within the construction industry. Most students interacting with McCain had internships arranged and are ready to make their mark on the industry.

McCain also met with Davidson Architecture & Engineering in Overland Park, KS, a full-service design firm specializing in industrial and retail development providing professional services in commercial architecture, civil engineering, interior architecture and master planning. It has successfully completed projects throughout metropolitan Kansas City, 28 states and abroad. McCain emphasized sustainability goals and the direction of the market as well as how consistent specifications and partnering with ready mixed producers early in the design process can improve the design-build process with concrete. The meeting was attended by the partners of the firm who facilitated an engaging discussion on the best means and methods to deliver high quality concrete projects.

McCain also introduced the available services the BWS team offers the design-build community, including specification reviews, life cycle assessments and concrete design assistance. The meetings provided valuable insight into how adopting performance-based specifications will maximize the ready mixed industry’s ability to deliver achievable concrete results.
