Last week NRMCA Director, Energy Codes and Standards, Darryl Dixon and Christy Martin, executive director of the Concrete Promotional Group, Inc. presented to members of the Kansas City American Institute of Architects (AIA) on Concrete Design for Energy Efficiency at their chapter headquarters in downtown Kansas City, MO. Dixon presented how thermal mass benefits are illuminated within the energy code and how building envelopes constructed with concrete components easily exceed code minimum requirements for heat, air and moisture.

The presentation provided insight on how designing with concrete and adopting the latest building energy codes will maximize energy-efficiency, sustainability and resiliency to deliver achievable GHG (Greenhouse Gas) and GWP (Global Warming Potential) goals.
