NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Greg Halsted assisted Diane Warner, executive director of the Northwest Cement Council (NCC) in the NCC exhibit booth at the Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association 2024 Spring Conference. Held April 1 - 4 in Seaside, OR, the conference attracted approximately 210 public works personnel who took part in over 20 technical sessions covering numerous tracks focused on all aspects of planning, design, construction, maintenance and sustainability. Both keynote speakers addressed the importance of resilience in public works projects – a message embraced by NRMCA and NCC.

The exhibit booth had a great deal of technical information on both cement and concrete applications for public works, including concrete overlays, cement-based pavement solutions, concrete trails, portland limestone cement and more, Halsted said. Traffic at the exhibit booth was lively, with numerous individuals stopping by for information or engaging in discussions about specific projects. Halsted also introduced attendees to NRMCA’s Build With Strength and Pave Ahead initiatives; discussed how attendees could benefit from the education and design assistance these programs offer; and followed up on leads generated from the conference.
