Federal Officials Plan Midwest Briefings on Buildings Using Low Carbon Materials, Including Concrete

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Public Buildings Service (PBS), Heartland Region (Region 6) is hosting an online Virtual Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Industry Day, March 12 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Central time, for small and large business concerns in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska interested in learning more about GSA’s recent $2.15B appropriation for projects planned with low embodied carbon materials for asphalt, concrete, glass, and steel.

Attendees will learn about the specifics of the GSA’s IRA program, including:

  • Program overview
  • Low embodied carbon construction material requirements
  • Environmental product declarations (EPDs)
  • Embodied carbon considerations in the procurement process
  • Planned PBS projects in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska
  • Next steps and helpful resources
