NRMCA Urges Support for Stronger Building Codes

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

On November 15, NRMCA joined with the International Code Council (ICC) to support an amendment to H.R. 5473, the Promoting Resilient Buildings Act. This legislation contains provisions from the Resilient AMERICA Act that Congress passed last year supporting various resilience measures; NRMCA strongly supported the Resilient AMERICA Act.

NRMCA and ICC asked the committee to adopt an amendment by Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA) to require that 10% of funding for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) be dedicated to supporting the adoption and enforcement of stronger building codes. NRMCA has joined with ICC in the past to advocate for stronger building codes and is a strong supporter of the BRIC program.
