Aquarium, Zoo Officials Learn About Concrete and Sustainability

Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Phil Kresge recently spoke at the Aquarium and Zoo Facilities Association annual conference in Louisville, KY. Kresge’s presentation, Concrete’s Role in Sustainability, focused on the cement and concrete industries’ efforts to reduce concrete’s carbon footprint. The presentation highlighted the Portland Cement Association’s Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality. Kresge also discussed the environmental benefits of using concrete, such as heat island mitigation, reduced lighting requirements, reduced fuel consumption and longevity/resilience. He also briefed attendees on pervious concrete's role in stormwater management.

Kresge was joined by Ohio Concrete Association Southwest Promotion Director Ryan McAleer, Kentucky Concrete Association Director of Education and Marketing Greg Smith, and NRMCA Producer member Rick Roth from Hilltop Companies.
