Carpenter Award Given to Georgia Man for Longtime Service to Industry

The Safety, Environmental & Operations (SEO) Committee has unanimously named Mr. Byron Hunt, vice president of sales for Beck Industrial in Douglasville, GA, as the 2024 Joseph E. Carpenter Award recipient. The award is named in honor of Joseph E. Carpenter of Rinker Materials, West Palm Beach, FL, who was instrumental in the formation and early operation of the NRMCA Committee on Maintenance. The award was instituted in 1988 and is presented annually to persons who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime contributions to the ready mixed concrete industry in the fields of operations, environmental and safety.

Mr. Hunt (seen here) was recognized for a life of service aimed toward improving concrete mixer safety and technology. He began his career with McNeilus and is a longtime valued member of the SEO Committee.He has been instrumental in building the business of three truck mixer manufacturers. Hunt is currently with Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau member Beck Industrial; he is a former TMMB chairman and has served on dozens of state and national boards of directors advocating for the needs of the ready mixed concrete industry. Mr. Hunt represents the best of our industry’s values and ethics. His longstanding commitment to continuous improvement of our operations, environmental, and safety standards are worthy of recognition and, as one committee member put it, “I always seem to feel better after talking to Byron than before.”

The award will be presented to Mr. Hunt during NRMCA’s 2024 Annual Convention in Tampa, FL.
