Build With Strength Hosts Low-Carbon Roundtable in Washington, DC

NRMCA, through the Build With Strength initiative hosted a Low-Carbon Roundtable event on September 8 in Washington, DC. The event aimed at bringing design and build teams together to explore the current state of the Washington, DC, market and identify opportunities to collaborate on implementing low-carbon concrete solutions. Speakers included Lionel Lemay of NRMCA, Walter Tersch of the General Services Administration, Connor Rattey of the Green Building Council of Washington, DC, and Lauren Wingo of ARUP.

Lauren also moderated a panel of experts, including Kate Williamson of Thornton-Tomasetti, Kahlil Francis from Skanska, Jim Martinoski of Miller & Long and Teck Chua of NRMCA Producer member Vulcan Materials to discuss how two large concrete projects in Washington, DC, achieved low-carbon concrete. The program ended with a feedback session from the attendees that included key owners, architects, engineers, contractors and producers.
