NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Greg Halsted teamed up with Tim Martin, senior vice president of engineering services for the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA), and Alex Martinez, Las Vegas area manager for RMA Group, Inc., on August 22 to present the webinar Understanding and Resolving Concrete Pavement Construction Defects as part of the Southwest Concrete Pavement Association (SWCPA) 2023 Concrete Pavement Workshop Series. The webinar attracted 184 engineers, contractors, suppliers and government agencies from across the country who discussed how defects originating from poor subbase, changing weather conditions, inconsistent materials, flawed designs and sub-par workmanship could slow projects down and increase costs. More importantly, the workshop explored effective, inexpensive, sustainable and best-practice solutions to these issues.

The presentation's content, divided among the three subject matter experts, was tailored so that attendees could gain valuable insights into common construction-related issues affecting concrete pavements and practical methods to address them. Halsted said a Q/A session after the presentation went well, passing the scheduled ending time as participants were eager to learn more and share their experiences. He also introduced attendees to NRMCA’s Pave Ahead program and mentioned how they could benefit from the education and design assistance it offers.
