NRMCA Director, Sustainability Initiatives, Katie Poss and Tien Peng, senior vice president of sustainability, codes and standards, will present at the virtual Net Zero Construction Conference tomorrow, March 10. The conference brings together the top leaders in sustainable construction to discuss the trends and technologies that are paving the way for a net zero future.

The top 50 architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) and planning firms, and other key professionals responsible for well over one trillion dollars of global annual construction have rallied around establishing building sector emissions targets to meet the Paris Agreement. The embodied carbon emissions of construction products represent a significant portion of emissions and, unlike operational carbon emissions, these emissions are locked in place as soon as a building is built. The session titled Concrete Carbon Solutions will review the growing number of legislative initiatives and regulations to reduce carbon emissions of the concrete industry; how the concrete industry demonstrates success through innovative tools and practices; and the role structural engineers can play to drive climate performance.

NRMCA encourages its members to consider this unique opportunity to engage with its local community on cost effective sustainability programs. Build With Strength is a coalition led by NRMCA that promotes noncombustible concrete building systems through communications, project promotion, education and advocacy.
