Last week, NRMCA joined a broad coalition of business interests, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Businesses, which called on Congress to pass H.R. 7894, the Paycheck Protection Program Small Business Enhancement Act. This legislation contains many of NRMCA’s priorities in reforming the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), including allowing 501(c)6 non-profit organizations to apply for PPP loans and protecting the tax-deductibility of expenses. Unfortunately, with the defeat of Senate Republicans’ COVID-19 package earlier this month and the rejection of moderate proposals like those put forward by the Problem Solvers’ Caucus it is increasingly unlikely that any COVID-19 relief package will pass before the election.
