NRMCA Releases First in Series of Pervious Concrete Promotional Flyers

The NRMCA’s Pervious Concrete Promotion Subcommittee has released the first of three pervious concrete promotional flyers. Asking the question, “How many cars can you park on your detention pond?” the Economic Benefits of Pervious Concrete flyer highlights areas where owners and developers can save money by using pervious concrete pavement.

“We have given particular focus on the role pervious concrete plays in the permitting process,” says NRMCA Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Phil Kresge. “Surprisingly, after years of promotion one of the biggest, and most common hurdles we face is that developers don’t know about, or don’t understand, pervious concrete and are reluctant to include it as a project’s stormwater management system. Knowing that pervious concrete is recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a Best Management Practice (BMP) and that it is also accepted by many state and local permit agencies should help in their decision-making process.”

Besides this flyer, the subcommittee is working on the other two pieces of promotional collateral. Currently undergoing final review is a similar flyer titled The Environmental Benefits of Pervious Concrete. Also in development is Pervious Concrete for Residential Development, which will target home builders and developers.

The Economic Benefits of Pervious Concrete can be found on PaveAhead.com or click here to download the new flyer. For more information, contact Phil Kresge at pkresge@nrmca.org.
