2019 marks the 6th year the NRMCA has had a booth at the International Conference of Shopping Centers RECon conference which is always held the week before Memorial Day at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For the past four years, the single focus of the booth has been on concrete overlays of existing asphalt parking lots, since the audience attending RECon represent a huge market of existing asphalt parking lots in need of repair. This year, to close the loop on delivering projects to interested attendees, NRMCA senior vice presidents of local paving Jon Hansen and Phil Kresge were joined by three American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) contractor members: Mike Hoeft with K&M Concrete Construction in Minnesota, J.T. Rutrough with Procon Concrete Specialist Inc. in Virginia and John Gasiorowski with McGuire and Hester in California.

“The end results were owners, facilities managers and some cities that were exhibiting stopped at the booth to find out more and request follow-up for specific projects," said Hansen. "With the contractors working the booth and representing the Western, Midwest and Eastern sections of the U.S., we were able to immediately connect most of the interest to contractors that can do the work. One example is a lead in the Midwest that was followed up with a site visit last week that led to a proposal being furnished to the owner. Conservatively, the show netted millions of square feet of parking lots and streets and local roads of concrete overlay paving potential from across the U.S.”
