NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovation, Michael Wymant traveled to Dorval, FL, earlier this week to present Build with Strength to a select group of designers in conjunction with Blue Buildings Inc. and Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) manufacturer Quadlock. More than 30 professionals attended the event, including structural engineers. It was held at the Biscayne Bay Brewing Company in Dorval; a unique space.

"This area of the country is very strong for our industry," said Wymant. "There is a great deal of opportunity here to convert low- and mid-rise wood projects to concrete. This tilt up building is a great example."

The presentation explored emerging trends in housing and development, innovations in concrete construction, case studies that showcase building value generation, economical design of concrete wall and floor systems, and how to utilize free resources to design structures. The emphasis was on the emerging ICF wall system. NRMCA’s Design Assistance Program was well received by the attendees; along with the opportunity to assist many local projects.

Build with Strength is a first-of-its-kind program for the concrete industry, designed not only to support our members, their businesses and the hard-working men and women of the concrete industry, but also to change the way people think about concrete construction versus direct competitors like soft-wood lumber.
