Build with Strength Message Well Received at Multifamily Show in Las Vegas
Build with Strength participated in the Multifamily Executives Show in Las Vegas from September 19 - 21, expounding the virtues and common sense revolution of building with concrete. Multifamily development is operating at an unprecedented high this year. The science and operations behind this cycle are defining new levels of performance. Developers and operators are using technology and data to "serve residents’ needs and desires" at a higher level. But as the cycle matures, staying ahead of the curve will prove to be even more of a challenge. A key message for 500+ developers this year: Build with Concrete! As developers focus on performance, the Build w Strength message was well received.
"Developers at this conference are looking for a performance advantage, for faster construction and for the cutting edge," said Michael Wymant, NRMCA senior director of building innovation. "Our message really resonated with them."
Wymant's colleague, NRMCA Senior Director of Building Innovation Gregg Lewis also chaired a roundtable discussion, presenting facts and case study data to developers regarding the cost savings and practicality of building with concrete, specifically insulated concrete forms (ICF’s).
While it was hot in Las Vegas, it was hotter at the NRMCA’s new exhibitor booth (see pic on right)! NRMCA officially displayed the new Build with Strength booth along with representation from the CICFI’s Kevin Davis (of Quadlock ICFs) and with support from the Concrete Reinforced Steel Institute's Greg Halsted, PE. NRMCA showcased the new campaign materials, videos and case studies. The booth also featured ICF blocks that intrigued many and spurred discussion around the most effective way to build low and mid-rise buildings. "We anticipate several Design Assistance requests," said Wymant. "Our case studies really surprised many developers we spoke to."
Build with Strength is a first-of-its-kind program for the concrete industry, designed not only to support our members, their businesses, and the hard-working men and women of the concrete industry, but also to change the way people think about concrete construction versus direct competitors like soft-wood lumber.
