Fiscal 2014 Spending Bill Funds DOT, Army Corps of Engineers at Increased Levels

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Earlier this month, the President signed the $1.1 trillion spending measure which will fund the federal government. It passed the Senate 72-26 on January 16 and the House 359-67 on January 15. This year’s bill consists of all 12 individual appropriations bills which fund the entire government through September 30. Construction spending at the Department of Transportation and the Army Corps of Engineers is increased over previous years and sequestration levels. Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Labor have been held to lower budgets. A number of key policy riders were included such as the provision intended to stop the NLRB’s implementation of "e-Card Check" and giving Congress additional oversight over EPA’s review of mining permits.

More detailed breakdowns of key agencies can be found in the Omnibus Highlights document here. For more information, contact Elizabeth Fox at efox@nrmca.org or 240-485-1156.
