NRMCA Promotes Concrete Pavements to Mississippi Audiences

"The goal of these presentations was to present basic educational information to an audience that doesn’t work with the technical details of pavements every day and more in-depth information to an audience that does," Miller said. "When people think of concrete pavements, they most often think of highway pavements. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that over 60% of paved lane miles in the U.S. are streets and local roads. As an industry, we’d like to see a more balanced pavement system and the process of getting there has to start somewhere. Basic education and information is the first step."

"The presentations were well received by the MDOT commissioners and the executive director’s staff, as well as the district engineers," added Howell. "They are always looking for solutions to help with the high cost of maintaining the state’s infrastructure and they have always been receptive to considering the latest technologies related to materials."
