NPMA remained active on the state preemption front this past week. First, NPMA met with the staff of Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), urging his office to support the inclusion of state-level pesticide preemption in the Farm Bill. NPMA staff also attended a fundraiser for Representative Nikki Budzinski (D-IL-13), a member of the House Agriculture Committee.

PestWorld 2023 in Hawaii was a hit, drawing over 3,000 attendees and delivering a solid win for the pest management industry. The event featured a bustling exhibit hall with the latest industry innovations and educational sessions that provided practical insights. Attendees can catch a glimpse of the action through PestWorld 2023's Flickr site, and mark their calendars for PestWorld 2024 in Denver from October 22-25. President Marillian Missiti emphasized the vital role of pest management professionals in community protection, highlighting programs like safehouseproject.org.

The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), the consumer marketing arm of NPMA, utilizes digital advertising campaigns to educate consumers on the threats pests pose to both their health and home. In its most recent PPMA Update, a monthly newsletter shared with investors, the group shared their September campaign results. Digital advertising campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest garnered over 5.9 million impressions as individuals engaged with targeted content highlighting timely pest issues and prevention tips. To further enhance traffic to PestWorld.org, PPMA also utilized a content syndication campaign focused on fall pests which accumulated more than 45.5 million impressions.

NPMA mourns the loss of Charles “Charlie” Frommer, who passed away on October 28, 2023, at 88 years of age.
