Introducing Terriers to the NWCOA
Andrew Stadnik, Owner, AJS Wildlife Solutions

Throughout history, canines have played an important role in civilization. From hunting to companionship and many services in between. Terriers were originally bred as vermin control on farms but today they serve useful in many other applications. Locating, capturing, retrieving, population control, and immediate removal of problem wildlife where it can take much longer for other means. Andrew Stadnik will touch on a variety of topics that include history, breeds, appropriate applications, conditioning, training, resources, and more.

The David Cooksey PestVet of the Year Award was created to honor a veteran who has helped strengthen the role of pest management. Heard From the Hill

Last week, NPMA distributed resources for state associations to submit public comments that highlight the unique impacts that the PIDs will have on member companies in their respective states. These resources include a set of industry talking points, a template for state associations to structure their comments, and a set of instructions for submitting comments. As a reminder, NPMA is available to review draft comment submissions from state associations, and we are also able to submit public comments on behalf of state associations. If interested in requesting assistance from NPMA, or if you have not yet received the NPMA public comment resources, please reach out to jdarr@pestworld.org.

This week, NPMA continued our outreach to state associations to ensure that they are prepared to submit public comments. If your state association would like NPMA’s support with drafting comments, please reach out to jramsey@pestworld.org, who will coordinate a one-on-one meeting with NPMA Public Policy staff.

NPMA Education and Events

2023 kicked off with an amazing start at the Eastern Conference in Atlantic City.

A near-record over 400 attendees came together for in-depth management and technical training sessions and learned about new and exciting products at the exhibit hall.

During the Workforce Challenges and Opportunities – What’s Working and What’s Not in Recruitment and Retention, James P McHale Jr of JP McHale Pest Management stated what our industry is really about- “it’s about the customers, and not about killing bugs.”

PestWorld East is hosted by the National Pest Management Association along with Ecovar. This one-of-a-kind conference addresses pest management challenges specific to the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Designed to provide pest management professionals in the Middle East with credible, unbiased information from legal, technical, business, and customer-oriented perspectives, make plans to attend PestWorld East, from 28 February - 1 March 2023 in Dubai, UAE. Don’t miss your chance to participate in this unique meeting at the lowest pricing available. Early-bird pricing ends January 27. Pricing will increase after this date.

The Safety Summit brings together industry experts with businesses of all sizes to discuss safety and risk management within the pest management industry.  Participants will share what is working for their company and what’s not during small group discussions and have the opportunity to attend an Evening with the Experts for a chance to sit with a safety pro to work on their program.

Attendees will leave the Safety Summit with an improved safety program, and a growing network of risk analysis and safety experts.
