Heard From the Hill

This week staff from NPMA continued to push for pesticide preemption in the 2013 Farm Bill by attending two events featuring Glenn William "GT" Thompson Jr., from Pennsylvania who is the ranking member on the House Ag Committee and the Senior Senator from Arkansas, John Boozman who is the ranking member on the Senate Ag Committee. Both representatives understood the importance of regulatory consistency for the pest control industry. We look forward to advancing keeping in close contact with them and other members of the House and Senate Ag committees as we advocate for pesticide preemption.

Velvet ant pest guide sees over 24,000 pageviews in August

The Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), the consumer marketing arm of NPMA, has developed a robust digital presence including its main website, PestWorld.org, its children’s site, PestWorldForKids.org, and an array of project microsites. These properties allow PPMA to establish the National Pest Management Association as the go-to resource for consumer audiences for pest-related content.

In its most recent PPMA Update, a monthly newsletter shared with investors, PPMA shared that PestWorld.org and PestWorldForKids.org saw nearly 660,000 sessions in August. The pest guide of greatest interest in August was the bald faced hornet, seeing over 36,000 pageviews, followed by the velvet ant with over 24,000 pageviews. Other pest guides of interest include bed bugs, open pipe mud daubers and boxelder bugs. As PPMA continues to share timely social media posts via PestWorld channels, referral traffic from Facebook saw an increase of nearly 45% MoM.
