Heard From the Hill
As the Biden Administration begins to take shape, NPMA is determining how to best work with the Environmental Protection Agency to advocate for the pest management industry’s objectives to protect public health, food, properties from the harmful effects of pests. Initial reports indicate the Agency, under the guidance of President Biden’s nominee for EPA Administrator, Michael Regan, will focus on topics such as climate change, clean air and other issues that are not specifically impacting the structural pest control industry. The attached document from the Biden-Harris Transition team identifies the specific rules/actions that the Biden Administration will be targeting for review. Of the 48 EPA related issues listed, only NPDES, WOTUS and chlorpyrifos are of note to the industry. These are important pesticide policy issues, however these are not primary issues for NPMA. It should be understood that the list is not exhaustive and NPMA will continue to stay focused on what impacts the new administration may have on policies directly impacting the industry, as these will surely arise.
