Last week, NPMA submitted comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the recently published Draft Guidance for Pesticide Registrants on the List of Pests of Significant Public Health Importance. The list, which the EPA is required by the law to maintain (Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act). EPA collaborated with CDC and USDA to develop updates to the list.  New pests, such as the brown dog tick were added, while others (hobo spider) were removed.  In addition to technical recommendations regarding scientific names, NPMA recommended that the EPA include the Asian cockroach (Blattella asahinai) to the list due to concerns regarding allergies and asthma.  Click here to read NPMA’s comments.
