NPMA’s Training on OSHA’s Respirable Silica Standard

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued new standards to help protect workers against exposure to respirable crystalline silica. Workers in the pest control industry may be exposed respirable crystalline silica during termite treatments that require drilling into concrete. To educate PMPs on the steps necessary to remain in compliance with this new standard, NPMA has developed a new online training course: OSHA’s Respirable Silica Standard Training. This 15-minute online training covers how exposure to respirable crystalline silica may occur when performing pest control work, avoidance measures that can be taken to limit exposure to workers, and what PMPs can do to comply with the new rule. This training is available to members for $4.99, and $9.99 to nonmembers. For additional information and resources, including an example of a written exposure control plan, visit NPMA’s OSHA toolbox.
