In March, Administrator Scott Pruitt signed an order denying a petition to ban the uses of chlorpyrifos, which is a valuable pesticide for agriculture use. Administrator Pruitt stated, "By reversing the previous Administration’s steps to ban one of the most widely used pesticides in the world, we are returning to using sound science in decision-making – rather than predetermined results."
The administrative objection submitted by the seven states requests immediate agency action to vacate the March order and to take final action on EPA’s proposed rule to revoke food tolerances for chlorpyrifos.
