NPMA submitted official comments to the Federal Docket in response to the Department of Health and Human Services’ request for information as it develops its national strategy for prevention and control of vector borne diseases. NPMA’s comments focused on the importance that the professional structural pest control industry plays in vector control, providing much of the country with a built-in pest defense network, with a focus on targeted property specific IPM solutions for communities. In light of the fact that municipal vector control districts are often under-resourced, lacking the peoplepower to impact pests at the property-owner level, professional pest control companies should be considered as part of the strategy to manage public health pests through government funded efforts.
