Today, the New York Pest Management Association (NYPMA) announced its 2021 Master Technician Program, which offers upgraded training and credentials for Pest Management Professionals (PMPs) in New York State. The Master Technician program supports, trains and develops the best professional individuals in the pest control industry who will abide by a strict rule of ethics. NYPMA follows a program of integrity including professionalism, responsibility, intelligence, development and education.

“The goal of the New York Pest Management Association is to provide the highest level of training to its valued membership,” said Sam Soto, Master Technician Chairperson and incoming New York Pest Management Association President. “The Master Technician Certification Program has been designed to train and recognize worthy individuals in the structural pest control industry who want to set themselves apart in their careers by obtaining credentials showing their knowledge, passion and dedication to higher standards. The aim is to provide our technicians with the expertise needed to properly identify targeted pests and develop effective treatment plans utilizing IPM Best Practices.”

Qualified applicants must be Certified Commercial Applicators licensed by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) with at least three years’ field experience. Candidates will have to be endorsed by their employer or a NYPMA member company in possession of a letter of good standing. All candidates are required to attend 8 out of 12 modules consisting of courses, meetings or workshops within a two-year period. PMPs must demonstrate solid ability and knowledge by passing all quizzes, including a final exam.

Member companies with Master Technicians will be highlighted on the NYPMA website and in marketing materials. Consumers will benefit by having a technician who takes the initiative to achieve the status of Master Technician.
