CTPCA Fights Pesticide Preemption Repeal - Version Would Allow Local Governments to Designate Pesticides as RUPs

The Connecticut Pest Control Association (CTPCA) is stepping up and defending their livelihoods as they launched a grassroots campaign defending the industry on Sunday, February 12, 2019, to fight SB 76 - Pesticide Preemption Repeal, a bill that would create a "crazy quilt" of pesticide regulations. CTPCA members sent 285 grassroots messages to the Connecticut General Assembly in under 24 hours educating lawmakers that SB 76 would jeopardize public health and property. Instead of drafting a bill that would give local governments all powers of pesticide regulation, the Joint Committee on the Environment has decided to instead draft a bill that allows all local governments to designate pesticides as restricted-use among other potentially harmful provisions. The text has not been released. NPMA, CTPCA, and CT SPARs Emilio Polce, Anthony Giovanni, and Lance Trovato are heavily engaged and fighting the bill every step of the way. We encourage every CTPCA member to participate in this grassroots campaign and future efforts to defend the industry. Please contact Jake Plevelich if you would like to get involved or have any questions.
