Farm Bill Update

With the House in play and Senators campaigning heavily to retain their seats, progress on the Farm Bill has crawled to a halt. Since Congress started their October recess period several weeks ago, discussions have been sporadic and the future of the farm bill – in content and timing – hinges on who takes the House in the elections. There are a number of scenarios that could see a Farm Bill finished in lame duck or even punted to next year, but regardless of timing or who controls the House, NPMA staff continues to advocate for inclusion of our priorities. Following meetings with both Democratic and Republican staff this week, NPMA continues to push how important these issues are to the industry.
