Last week, NPMA staff and members held a full day workshop for 55 employees of EPA, at the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) in Crystal City, VA. The focus of this meeting was to provide education on pyrethroid use patterns in structural settings to those tasked with performing registration review as well as EPA reps from EFED, BEED, PRD and RD. Sessions focused on application types, target pests, hands-on equipment demonstrations, and necessity of this class of products to protect public health and property from pests and the diseases they vector. We feel that based on the open discussion at the end of the meeting, the staff at EPA now have a more in-depth understanding of Pyrethroids to assist them as they go through the product review.
