The Public Policy Team met with EPA Office of Pesticide Programs staff to review the recent EPA Office of Inspector General's (OIG) report on structural fumigation.  The report, titled " Additional Measures Can Be Taken to Prevent Deaths and Serious Injuries From Residential Fumigations" outlines the OIGs six recommendations for OPP and EPA Region 2.  During the meeting, NPMA highlighted how the NPMA Structural Fumigation Stewardship Strategy, developed by the NIOIMA Fumigation Committee earlier this year addresses each of the OIG's concerns.  The release of the OIG Report will help to prioritize NPMA’s fumigation stewardship effort, which exceed the recommendations outlined in the OIGs report.  In the spring, NPMA, in cooperation with ASPCRO, will be coordinating a training opportunity for EPA staff involved with the Registration Review of the structural fumigants at the University of Florida School of Structural Fumigation.
