NPMA recently participated in a Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO) meeting to discuss strategy after the elections and during the lame duck Congressional session. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), the sponsor of S. 3464, The Overtime Reform and Review Act, joined the meeting as the group continued to discuss the path forward with legislation. Following the elections, we will need your assistance again as we mobilize the NPMA grassroots network.

Since previously reported, the two federal court challenges to the overtime rule have been consolidated into one case. The case brought by several states and industry groups survived an initial challenge by the Department of Labor to stay a preliminary injunction and summary judgment until after December 1, 2016. The court will review the Department of Labor’s response and if necessary, will hold a hearing November 28th.
