CPMA Meets with PMRA

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The Canadian Pest Management Association (CPMA) expressed concerns over specific species not being included on labels and the difficulty associated with bringing new products into Canada. The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has agreed to provide CPMA more information on both how to add species to labels and how to register new products in order for CPMA to provide this information to Canadian suppliers and encourage their participation in the registration/review process.

There was significant discussion concerning the proposed re-evaluation decisions for Cyfluthrin and Beta-cyfluthrin. CPMA and PMRA discussed the justification for 8-hour re-entry intervals, expanded definition of "residential use", removal of bed bug use patterns and the label mandated information sheet. PMRA and CPMA will continue discussions leading to the submission of thoughtful and justified comments that will hopefully change some of the proposed decisions.

Lastly, PMRA confirmed receipt of additional data with regards to the revised phosphine/phosphide labels and buffer zones. It is believed any label changes resulting from the new data will be published in early 2017.
