Son reunited with father's lost guitar case

While standing inside a Somerset pawn shop, a tearful Jesse said his thanks to those who orchestrated the return of the case, including shop owner Liz Turpen and frequent customer Larry Gentry. Turpen, owner of The Pawn Shop now located on Ky. 2227, explained that years ago, Joe Canada brought the case and a guitar into her previous shop location.

The bill increases payment and fee amounts instituted at pawn shops. Previous law stipulated that loan setup fees could not be more that $7.50 or 3.5% of the loan amount, and could not be higher than $30. Under AB 1186, it’s been upped to $7.50 or 3.% of the loan, not to go past $90.

Albert's Pawn opens fourth location, sets sights on future

Albert’s Pawn held a ribbon cutting for its fourth location in the TN Tri-Cities on Thursday. The shop, located at 2710 N. Roan St., is the company’s second spot in Johnson City, TN. The business also has stores in Kingsport and Bristol.

Richie’s Pawn & Guns in Tamarac, FL, touts its more than two decades of experience in the pawn industry and says “you’ll be amazed by what you can find and its low cost.” The business at 5227 N. State Road 7 was raided by detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office after “a year-long investigation into an organized retail crime operation where the suspects knowingly sold stolen merchandise,” the agency said.
