Industry Week
U.S. manufacturing achieved a post-COVID-19 milestone last month, adding 29,000 new workers, according to the Department of Labor. This number is slightly above the sector’s last pre-pandemic employment numbers, from February 2020. Overall employment in the economy was up 372,000 jobs, as the employment rate (3.6%) and labor force participation rate (62.2%) remained stable. Read More. In our May/June issue of O&MM Fabricator, we spotlighted the gorgeous stair and ribbon sculpture that won Big D Metalworks gold for Top Job category L – Stairs Complete – Commercial. While we were able to cover the ‘big picture’ points of the Norfolk Southern Grand Stair project, a significant amount of work went on behind the scenes, involving multiple NOMMA member companies. With a project as complex, detailed, and ultimately stunning as this one, it probably comes as no surprise that there’s always more to the story.
