Celebrating the Retirement of Steve Engebregtsen

A lot of NOMMA members cannot think of The Wagner Companies without thinking of Steve Engebregtsen. Steve announced his retirement from Wagner after 46 years on June 1 via NOMMA’s online community.

Atlantis Rail Adds a Top Rail to Their Spectrum Cable Railing System

Cable railing manufacturer Atlantis Rail Systems has launched a new aluminum top rail for their popular Spectrum cable railing system. Previously, they supplied the cable, fittings and posts for their Spectrum System and requested the customer supply their own hardwood top rail. Due to the popularity of this system and customer demand for an integrated top rail, Atlantis Rail has now created their new Spectrum Top Rail System.

“When we introduced the Spectrum System, it quickly became one of our top selling cable railing systems," said Seth Porter, Product Manager. "The logical next step was to offer a metal top rail for this system as an alternative to hardwood. Now we can provide customers with the complete package without any additional material sourcing.”

The Spectrum Top Rail System consists of square, 1-1/2” x 1-1/2” stainless steel powder coated posts that can be fascia or surface mounted and an extruded aluminum 1-5/8” x 3-1/2” top rail. A gate can also be added using the new top rail system. More information at www.atlantisrail.com.

Materials: .060" alloy, 280 brass sheet alloy, 385 architectural bronze tube, bar and angle
Finish: Antiqued bronze with a clear coat
Total Labor Hours: 450

Foreman Fabricators' woordworking customer supplied them with a bar to enable them to fit cladding into their milled reveals. Foreman also supplied a foot rail with custom-made brackets plus a shelving unit for the back bar in a cigar club room.

Getting tight joints on the formed banding was particularly challenging, as was aligning all the components for the removable glass and stemware brackets. Making the finishes look consistent across all items and across joints and working with extremely intense inspections of the finish were additional hurdles. Foreman Fabricators worked patiently with their client to adjust and modify nearly every aspect of the project at least once at the client's request. Fabrication was done by TIG weld on both the sheet and the shapes, and several fastenres were added for the glass clamping.
