The NOMMA Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization raising money to support programs and services that benefit the ornamental and miscellaneous metals industry. Your tax-deductible contribution will be used to help support chapter education and programs like METALfab.

NOMMA chapters can submit a NEF Education Resource Program grant application to request funding to offset the cost of an education or training session. This resource helps to bring education closer to the members. NEF encourages grant applications to be submitted at least six weeks prior to the event to allow time for review. To learn more about the NEF Education Resource Program, visit www.nomma.org/page/NEF-grants.

METALfab, NOMMA’s annual conference and tradeshow, unites industry professionals and creates an environment for learning and networking. Interacting with peers fosters knowledge sharing and problem solving that can’t be captured in other mediums. METALfab participants can attend one and a half days of education sessions that address business and technical topics within the industry. The tradeshow helps attendees connect with exhibitors to learn about the latest products and trends.

Consider making a tax-deductible donation to support NEF in its efforts to support programs that educate and benefit our industry. To donate online, visit www.nomma.org/page/givenow. Donations can also be mailed to the NOMMA Education Foundation at 4100 International Parkway, Suite 2400, Carrollton, TX 75007.

Title of Entry: Elliptical Stair
Materials: Steel plates for the pickets and stair sides; bent plate for the stair and risers; pipe for the grab rail
Finish: Matte black epoxy
Total Labor Hours: 950

This elliptical stair was created for a new build in a high rise condo. The team used a CAD style drawing program to design the stair layout for the owners and architect. Once approved, they started fabrication by cutting and forming each of the stair sections and risers. All nine sections (including pickets and cap rail) were fabricated to fit into a 4' x 8' freight elevator door.

It was a major challenge to get each section, and a small crane, into the elevator, and then all the way up to the 57th floor. Each of the nine stair sections were erected and fully welded into place, followed by the addition of the pickets and cap rail. Finally, all welds, welded joints and sections were cleanded and sanded smooth, and a finish coat of paint was the final touch to complete this one-of-a-kind project.
