Heirloom Companies

We've arrived at our final winning category from the 2022 Top Job competition, and what a splendid note to end on! You may recognize this stunning sundial from the cover of our November/December issue of O&MM Fabricator. It was created by The Heirloom Companies for a client seeking a storybook style of back yard. In fact, the company had made several previous fantastical pieces for the client's yard already when they were commissioned to create this unique sundial.

The Heirloom Companies team began with a round steel pipe 'spine' and then layered bronze to it, curving the pieces to approximate the curve of the pipe. The flat, stone-looking aspect of the piece was actually made out of a concrete mix, using a stone matching method. The winged fairy and bird were created from solid material, while the sundial parts were cut by a plasma cutter. "We lost track of the hours," The Heirloom Companies wrote in their project description, "but it was more than 200." This project is truly fairytale-worthy from top to bottom.
