ASKS FOR CONSTRUCTION SITE WAIVER

On April 15, AGC submitted comments to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on two regulatory proposals dealing with the use of drones. AGC supported FAA's proposal to lift its ban on nighttime operation of drones and to allow flights over people with appropriately categorized drones. AGC's comments pointed out that operators should be able to rely on the manufacturer's certifications about the drone's compliance with the FAA standards and not have to independently verify. AGC also suggested that flights over construction sites that have limited access should have a special waiver because construction workers are generally informed of potential flyovers and spotters can be used to ensure that operations are carried out safely. AGC also called for a broader waiver for drone flights over vehicles which can be useful in highway construction for various inspections, including verifying traffic control devices are operating properly.

2018 was a truly special year for AGC of America and our members as we celebrated 100 years as the leading association for the construction industry. Since our founding, we have worked hard to help our members thrive and this past year was no exception. As you'll see in our latest Annual Report, AGC of America achieved many notable victories for our industry, and we are positioning ourselves for continued success over the next century.

AGC has compiled data on the role of the construction in the economy and employment in the United States, each state and major metro areas.

 

The construction industry is dynamic — ever changing and evolving through technology. The way contractors work today is clearly much different than 50 years ago — or 20 years — or even five years ago. The big difference is due to advances in technology in the machines and tools that enable greater productivity, reduce time and provide better results.
