Cook Children’s Healthcare System is one of the country’s leading integrated pediatric health care systems. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, the nationally recognized not-for-profit organization embraces technology system-wide.

Cook Children’s readily embraces Linbeck Group’s knowledge and use of complex construction technologies. Linbeck is an obvious choice for an organization as progressive as Cook Children’s.

Because of its affinity for complex technologies, Cook Children’s is Linbeck’s preeminent integrated project delivery (IPD) project.

Being onsite at Cook Children’s and because of their collaborative 30-year relationship, Linbeck, a member of multiple AGC chapters, has a technology hub at Cook’s where they continually hone their advanced  technologies. With this project, they are incorporating the newest and best pre-construction and construction technologies available on the market today – and some that aren’t commercially available yet.

As with any technologically savvy construction firm, Linbeck uses BIM to eliminate waste and rework through clash detection. Linbeck coordinates all its trades through this spatial coordination tool that highlights plumbing, steel or mechanical, electrical and fire protection.

TeamBuild is Linbeck’s proprietary technology. Originally developed in 2005 as a web application for internal use, it bridges together all the other off-the-shelf technologies. TeamBuild allows clients, subcontractors, consultants, etc., direct access to RFIs, submittals, contracts, daily reports, etc., thus reducing the amount of time required to receive answers and other pertinent information. This collaboration mitigates change orders and rewords in the field, which has the potential to save massive amounts of time and material wastes.

As the project moves ahead at Cook Children’s, Linbeck incorporates laser scanning to identify existing conditions such as plumbing, medical gas, and sanitary lines; confirm new, as-built records, which provides an accurate set of models for future maintenance; and create a checks and balances system to ensure field-accurate site conditions.

The laser scanner is positioned in multiple spots to identify objects and to take measurements. It’s so precise it can pick up an 8" water line in high resolution. These laser scans can then be imported into other technologies that help design insight and project predictability from pre-construction through execution.

Linbeck is now setting its sights on frontier tech: drones, virtual reality and augmented reality – the future of contemporary construction.

In utilizing and honing its cutting edge technologies offerings with Cook Children’s, Linbeck is constructing the best state-of-the-art facilities so Cook can maintain its position at the forefront of leading-edge care.
