AGC Meets with Industry Professionals to Discuss transXML

In early December, Fara Francis, CIO of AGC of America, met with industry professionals from AASHTO and representatives from various state departments of transportation (DOTs) for a workshop on the future of the transXML. Participants wanted to learn about the governance surrounding agcXML: how funding support was obtained and information on the overall project operations. Attendees were impressed on the agcXML progress thus far and with the model that is in place: the advisory board, advisory board composition, PMO arrangement, architect roles, steward roles, etc.

"They intend to reach out to us in the future," says Francis, "to 'pick our brains' as they decide on the future of transXML for the transportation industry."

Transportation professionals expressed an interest in collaborating, or at least having an introductory conversation, with the agcXML advisory board on payrollXML. Perhaps this is something that can be addressed in the new year.

This type of collaboration benefits the agcXML initiative since there is knowledge gained on lessons learned, and it allows a level of industry cross-pollination. By cross promoting existing standards, agcXML adoption will increase. In addition, collaboration provides possibilities for leveraging work that is pre-existing and in place with other standards and saves deployment time.
