Daily Recap

If yesterday was any indication of what’s in store for the rest of the week here in Grapevine, attendees will not be disappointed. Returning attendees were no doubt excited to see this year’s emcee Mark Walberg take center stage again at the Opening General Session, sponsored by Autodesk Construction Cloud. Presentations by outgoing president Bob Lanham, incoming president Dan Fordice and CEO Steve Sandherr highlighted the past year’s accomplishments, the goals for the next 12 months and all of AGC’s legislative and regulatory victories. Keynote speaker and best-selling author Neil Pasricha rounded out the session with his inspiring talk on how to find happiness.

AGC and Autodesk also announced this year’s Innovation Award winners at the Opening General Session. Third place went to Ryan Companies Inc. and 2nd place went to Cahill Tech. First place was awarded to the AGC Education Foundation of Washington. Congratulations to all the winners. More awards will be distributed this week, including the Construction Risk Partners Build America Awards and the Diversity & Inclusion Awards, which take place today. So, get up, get out and get going. You don't want to miss a minute of this year’s convention.

Following the Opening General Session, attendees made their way to the Expo Hall, where refreshments were served, a mechanical bull challenged adventure seekers and armadillo races entertained the crowd. The fun continues all week so be sure to visit the Expo Hall in between education sessions.
