Living in Interesting Times

AGC of America kicked off its 98th Annual Convention yesterday at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada, and, as always, delivered an impressive program. The education sessions in the morning covered relevant, timely topics, provided innovative solutions and encouraged discussion among attendees. In the afternoon, the association’s leadership took center stage at the Opening Session.

Outgoing president Mark Knight, incoming president Art Daniel and CEO Steve Sandherr individually addressed the packed house, each adding their brush stroke to the overall AGC picture: an association with accomplished goals, a long-standing, impactful history, and a strong agenda for the future.

"May you live in interesting times." Chinese proverb

As Sandherr noted, we are living in an interesting time. Yet, while the current political climate may bring uncertainty, it also provides opportunity – funding for infrastructure, regulation rollbacks, tax reform, and more. AGC will continue to work for a more industry- and business-friendly environment and advocate for its members and the industry by participating in the solutions discussion.

Next year marks AGC of America’s 100th anniversary. Even though the industry has changed over the years, one thing remains the same: members can continue to rely on the association as they have for the last 100 years.
