Sundt Breaks Ground on Student Services Center at Golden West College in Huntington Beach

Construction has begun for the new $24-million Student Services Center at Coast Community College District’s Golden West campus in Huntington Beach.

As the district’s construction manager, Sundt Construction, Inc., a member of multiple AGC chapters, is overseeing, coordinating and directing all construction activities throughout every phase of the project.

Once completed, the 50,000-sq-ft facility, designed by tBP Architecture, Inc., will consolidate the college’s multiple departments into a centralized, one-stop location in the center of campus. The project celebrates the college’s 50th anniversary and reflects the district’s commitment to providing exceptional service to its students.

"We are working closely with the district and our partners to ensure there is little impact on student life," said Sundt project director John Messick. "All of the work will be completed while campus remains open, which can present challenges, but our team is fully prepared to embrace those challenges, as we have decades of experience in university construction and know what it takes to safely and successfully complete a project like this."

Sundt’s work on Golden West College further strengthens the general contractor’s presence in Southern California as a leader in educational facilities. Other notable Sundt community college construction projects include Orange Coast College Interdisciplinary Complex in Costa Mesa, Ohlone Community College Academic Core in Fremont and San Diego CCD Miramar College Library/Learning Resource Center in San Diego.
