Graycor Construction Company, a member of  Chicagoland AGC, has announced the opening of a new office in Boston, Mass., one of the oldest cities in the United States, to provide construction services for projects throughout the Northeast. The new office is located at The District Burlington, 1500 District Ave, Burlington, Mass. Graycor Construction Company also maintains offices in Chicago, Illinois; San Jose, California; Bakersfield (Los Angeles Area), California; Charlotte, North Carolina; Phoenix, Arizona; and Atlanta, Georgia.

The Boston office provides a base of operations to support Graycor’s existing and growing pipeline of retail and entertainment projects where the company is engaged in excess of $60 million worth of preconstruction and construction activity in the Northeast in this past year. Boston area projects include Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, ArcLight Boston and Burlington Mall.

“Graycor’s strategic expansion into Boston is aligned with our clients’ ongoing investments in their shopping center properties in the Northeast region, particularly the Boston metropolitan area is looking to shopping center owners and theatre operators to bring exceptional experiences in the retail and entertainment environment to their communities,” said Tim Hanifin, vice president and general manager of Graycor Construction Company, who will also be managing the Boston office.

When redeveloping shopping centers, maintaining safety, accessibility and profitability during construction becomes a priority for retail REITs. Graycor’s Live Environment work methodology is being applied at several renovation projects in Boston:

  • Burlington Mall Redevelopment, Burlington, Massachusetts (Simon Property Group), The first phase of this redevelopment project includes the demolition of an existing Sears Auto Center and construction of a new 35,000 SF retail collection with 13 new tenants. Site work includes a new vehicular mall entrance, parking lot and decorative paving.
  • Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, Wrentham, Massachusetts (Simon Property Group), The work at Wrentham Village Premium Outlets (the largest outdoor shopping center in New England) includes renovation of all common areas including demolition of existing hardscapes and amenities, utility rework, new decorative concrete and hardscape finishes, amenities and façade upgrades.
  • ArcLight Boston, Boston, Massachusetts (ArcLight Cinemas), Construction recently started for the interior build-out of the new ArcLight Theatre in Boston. The 70,187 SF theatre will be located on three floors and include a full bar, café and concessions.

Graycor is also currently providing construction services for two Cinemark theatres in New Jersey, including Cinemark Watchung in Watchung and Cinemark Willowbrook Mall in Wayne. Projects completed in the past year include Kerasotes ShowPlace ICON at Boston Seaport in Boston, Massachusetts; The Container Store at Chestnut Hill in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; and FedEx Ground Sorting and Distribution Center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
