Will Hodges, president of Cadence McShane Construction Company, a TEXO and Houston Chapter member, recently announced that the firm has been selected by Port Logistics Realty (PLR) for Phase 1 of Southport Logistics Park, a new 531-acre master-planned industrial development.  The project is a joint venture between PLR and Diamond Realty Investments (DRI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation.  Five buildings total will be built during Phase 1 of this prestigious nine million- sq-f development. The first two buildings will be speculative industrial facilities totaling nearly 1.5 million square feet scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2016.

Southport Logistics Park is strategically positioned within the Inland Port area, off of I-45 in Wilmer, Texas, just 12 miles from downtown Dallas.  This premier location’s close proximity to the Union Pacific Intermodal Facility and the third busiest FedEx Ground Hub supports distribution and e-commerce efficiencies.  The site also offers easy access to I-20, I-30, I-35 and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

As part of the assignment, Cadence McShane will complete Building 1, a new 1,075,260 sq-ft speculative facility with a cross-dock configuration and a 36-ft clear height. Users will benefit from the 50 by 54-ft column spacing, a 60-ft staging area, 185-ft truck court, an ESFR sprinkler system and office space to-suit.  Sizable parking for 243 trailers and 630 vehicles will also be available.

The assignment also includes the construction of a second building, a 36-ft clear, 395,099-sq-ft speculative facility with an ESFR sprinkler system and flexible office space to suit tenant requirements.  Generous on-site parking for 285 vehicles and 113 trailer stalls will also be completed.

Cadence McShane will construct both industrial facilities from precast concrete panels, incorporating modern design elements such as integrated aluminum panels at the entryways, sophisticated accent lighting, and contemporary window lines.  Ware Malcomb is the Phase 1 project architect.

"Cadence McShane contributes demonstrated construction expertise in both this growing South Dallas market area and with this popular industrial product type," remarked Hodges.  "We are delighted to have earned this role to provide our construction services to Port Logistics Reality on this sizable project that contributes to their growing portfolio of projects and enhances their presence within this prime industrial market."
