AGC Releases Worker Shortage Data

On Thursday, Nov. 6, AGC of America released new data showing the severity of construction worker shortages in Nevada and the extent of recent, local construction job gains during a visit to the Nevada State Contractors Board. During the event, officials witnessed a construction safety training demonstration set up outside the Board’s office.

Ken Simonson, AGC chief economist, released the new worker shortage and construction jobs data and identified measures public officials should take to increase the supply of qualified workers. Sean Stewart, executive vice president of the AGC of Las Vegas/Nevada Contractors Association, outlined steps the chapter is taking to prepare and train construction workers. Shawn Danoski, a member of the Nevada Commission on Construction Education, discussed how grants provided by the Commission support construction workforce development.
