Sundt Construction, Inc., a member of multiple AGC chapters, was recently selected by the San Jose Evergreen Community College District to build a new physical education building at San Jose City College.

Construction is scheduled to begin next fall on the 40,000-sq-ft facility, designed by LPAS Architecture + Design. The $17.2-million project will feature a spectator gymnasium with full competition basketball court and retractable bleachers. A fitness center, locker rooms and a faculty suite, which will accommodate faculty offices, meeting room, workroom and staff locker rooms, also are included in the plan. The completion of the new P.E. building is anticipated for November 2016.

As part of the contract’s scope of work, Sundt will also re-purpose the current 5,800-sq-ft racquetball courts into team dressing rooms and a training room with associated staff and storage areas.

Sundt established a physical presence in the Bay area in November 2013. The general contractor currently has more than $400 million of construction underway in the Silicon Valley region, including projects at Ohlone Community College; California State University, East Bay; San Jose State University and San Mateo County Correctional Facility.
