On Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, TP Mechanical, an AGC of Kentucky and AGC of Ohio member, held its annual Gala, a Whodunit Dinner Extravaganza to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio. As part of this event, guests watched a murder mystery unfold while enjoying cocktails, dinner, and a silent auction.

For three decades, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio has been serving families with seriously ill children by providing a home-away-from-home at the Columbus Ronald McDonald House. What the Ronald McDonald House is able to provide these families is a bit of stability in the midst of unthinkable circumstances. When a child is hospitalized, the healing power of having family nearby is beyond measure.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to contribute to the Columbus Ronald McDonald House," said Bill Riddle, president of TP Mechanical. "We feel our business success is a blessing, and we’re motivated to share that by giving back to our community."

The Columbus Ronald McDonald House is the second largest in the world and serves nearly 3,000 families each year by providing over 20,000 nights at the House. The House is nearly 80,000 square feet with 80 guest rooms, including 10 continuing care suites for families whose children need an isolated environment close to the hospital during chemotherapy or following a transplant.

With the support of TP Mechanical, Ronald McDonald House’s goal is to provide an additional 42 rooms in its facility, making it the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world. All of the money raised from the Fall Gala will directly fund the many services that Ronald McDonald House provides as a home-away-from-home. At every House families enjoy home-cooked meals, private bedrooms and classrooms and playrooms for children.

"Our employees are completely on board with this cause. We hope that with our contribution, the Columbus Ronald McDonald House can complete their vision of becoming the largest RMC in the world. Simply put, with more rooms, they can enrich more lives," Riddle said.

This year’s Gala was presented by The Habegger Corporation, with the support of Silver Sponsors Ferguson Enterprises, HYLANT and Trane, along with numerous sponsors at other financial levels.
