Chief (Ret.) Raymond J. White of the Scarsdale Fire Department (Westchester County) passed away on September 4, 2023. A 56-year life member of NYSAFC, he led the association as president from 1981-1982. White served with the SFD from 1956 until retiring in 1991.
 
 
   
The New York State Association of Fire Chiefs and Islip Town Fire/EMS Museum Educational Center have partnered once again to deliver this exciting emergency services exposition and educational event on Long Island. Leonard Llewellyn, a 53-year member of Mattituck Fire Department, died on August 24 from injuries sustained in a traffic accident as he was en route to the firehouse responding to a call.
 
The Nyack Fire Department lost a veteran volunteer earlier this month. Joseph Maragliano was found unresponsive on September 2, the morning after going out on a call for the department.
